The beginnings of a new series…

Below are lidded containers I designed and had blown at residencies to be engraved on the color bands. The engraving imagery will be about the act of collecting objects, not just art. Seeking, locating, acquiring, sorting, documenting, organizing, displaying, storing, and maintaining objects in some ways makes the collector the source of keeping them archival. Who is to say what is arbitrary and what is not? I based my drawing for the forms on research I did on goldsmithed vessels from 1540-1620 as well as some traditional Venetian forms and embellishments. I hope to share the new narrative engraving imagery with you soon.
